Malpelo is a tiny volcanic island which is twenty million years old. It is located in the Pacific Ocean almost
500 kilometres off the western Columbian coast. It is currently the 9 largest Marine Protected Area in the world.

Honored guest of the Monaco Ocean Week, Sandra Bessudo shared her

fight to protect the marine biodiversity of Malpelo, a small Pacific island

off Columbia’s coasts. During this conference held in the Yacht Club of

Monaco on April 2 , Sandra Bessudo, passionate diver, marine biologist and

it urgent to protect ocean life.
