OCEAN OBSERVATION AND HOW THE OCEAN WORKS
Public awareness event - Villefranche sur Mer Oceanographic Laboratory (03/31/17 and 04/01/17 - Stars’N’Bars)
On Friday 31 March and Saturday 1 April 2017, renowned restaurant Stars’N’Bars welcomed the general public to a participative
workshop on ocean robotic observation. Participants were able to observe Villefranche sur Mer Oceanographic Laboratory students
carry out unusual experiences and discuss the latest technological innovations with scientists. The highlight of the workshop was a
profiling float presentation; a new generation of submarine robots which increase ocean understanding by collecting data in situ.
FROM THE SEA TO OUR PLATES
A public awareness event for the sustainable consumption of seafood products. (Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation,
Mr Goodfish, World Wide Fund and Marine Stewardship Council - 04/01/17 - Stars’N’Bars)
On 1 April 2017, Monegasque restaurant Stars’N’Bars hosted a Monaco Ocean Week temporary sustainable fishing village with the
participation of Mr Goodfish, the WWF and the Marine Stewardship Council. The aim of the event was to raise awareness on the
sustainable consumption of seafood products. Visitors of all ages took part in educational workshops and learned how to choose fish
correctly in order to preserve marine life. The participants were also invited to taste sustainable seafood prepared by Mr Goodfish partners,
including Michelin-starred chef, Marcel Ravin.
