Dr. Sylvia A. Earle

Sylvia A. Earle is a National Geographic Society Explorer in Residence, Founder of Mission Blue, Founder of Deep Ocean Exploration and Research Inc. (DOER), Ocean Elder, Advisory Council Chair of the Harte Research Institute and former Chief Scientist of NOAA. Author of more than 200 publications and leader of more than 100 expeditions with over 7,000 hours underwater, Dr. Sylvia A. Earle is a graduate of Florida State University with M.A. and PhD. degrees from Duke University and 29 honorary doctorates.

Her research concerns the ecology and conservation of marine ecosystems and development of technologies for access to the deep sea. She is the subject of the Netflix film, Mission Blue, and the recipient of more than 100 honors and awards.

Dr Sylvia A. Earle will take part in the Monaco Blue Initiative on 3 April at the Monaco Oceanographic Museum.
